  • AMA Event: "Before You Start Your Next Social Media Campaign ..."

    / Comments (0)

From the Iowa Chapter of the American Marketing Association:

Co-hosting an expanded monthly luncheon with the Greater Des Moines Partnership, the Iowa Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA Iowa) plans to go way beyond Social Media 101 on Dec.1.

The special session featuring Social Media Strategist and Founder of Lava Row Nathan Wright kicks off with Rebecca Herold, (a.k.a. The Privacy Professor) shining a light on the privacy pitfalls of social media.

Wright will then take the stage to answer the question “What’s next in social media?” including ten predictions for the future. He’ll discuss how marketers and consumers alike will be using social media – and what we’ll be calling it – in the future. Wright also promises to foretell the impact of these changes on marketing, communications and traditional media.

AMA Iowa asks attendees to note that the expanded session begins at 11 a.m., which is half an hour sooner than the usual monthly luncheon start time.

  • From the Rumor Mill: CatchFire Lands Casey's Social Media

    / Comments (0)

Reliable sources tell us social media firm CatchFire recently landed Casey's General Store social media promotion business. This should be a good move for Casey's - who has likely felt their efforts have been a little inadequate in the shadow of competitor Kum and Go's recent social media success.

The interesting undercurrent? Former CatchFire analyst Mike Templeton recently left CatchFire to take a position as social media guru at Kum and Go. Prior to leaving, Kum and Go was a client of CatchFire. Obviously that is no longer the case. This could have the makings of a juicy battle for social media convenience store dominance.
