Des Moines loves our farmers markets. We love our local food. We love our kale-drenched boxes of vegetables from CSAs like Tabletop Farm. Can this model translate to art?
Make\break, led by the husband-and-wife behind the craft fair Market Day, is going to find out. Yesterday, make\break launched Community Supported Art Des Moines:
Over the last 20 years, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) became a popular way to buy seasonal food directly from local farms.
With the same buy-direct, buy-local spirit in mind, and guided by Springboard for the Arts, make\break launches a similar endeavor to support local art, artists, and collectors
Collectors who purchase shares receive boxes or portfolios of locally produced artwork at three pickups during the season.
The 50 shares are $300 each.
