• July 6 Design+Tech: What the Hell is User Experience

    / Comments (0)

If you could put into a bottle what is going on in the Des Moines tech/creative community, this is it. Defintely check this out (and if you do go, take some pix and give us a summary so we can post after the event):

Ready for the next dose of Design+Tech? It's happening Wednesday, July 6 at 7 p.m. This month's topic: "What the Hell is User Experience?"

User Experience is all about focusing on your users and how they interact with something you've created.

We are going to introduce and break down what User Experience (UX) means and how it affects us all in our everyday lives. You'll walk away feeling more confident about attacking your next project and able to pinpoint problems during the process. I guarantee once you start realizing the importance of UX, you'll never forget it.

This will be a great meeting for everyone: designers, writers, managers, programmers, project managers, marketing coordinators, developers and anyone else involved in building and designing things. UX goes way beyond websites and apps.

    Spread the word.

  • Sigler, Parent of Innova Ideas and Services, Lays Off 28

Sigler Companies announce the layoff of 28 employees this morning, the result of market conditions, according to this article in The Des Moines Register.

No news on how many, if any, of the layoffs were of Innova employees - or others from their printing and apparel operations. Either way, layoffs in the creative world always suck.

Did you know you can actually advertise your business on The Des Moines Egotist? And, you can start for as little as $75 per week. That means if you're a printer, photographer, freelancer, agency, video production house, media source or whatever, you can reach a highly engaged audience of creatives and agencies from across Iowa. Hell, you can even advertise booze if you want ... cuz you know creatives like booze!

See that column on the right side of the site? That could be yours. Really. How cool would that be?

If you're a designer and you're not doing something cool like this, you're probably in "the big stack". Of course, if you're a copywriter or account dude or dudette, your MS Word template resume probably sucks to look at, but what can you do?
